Contest #48 Answer: Marvao, Portugal
Boy, Karel is really throwing some tough ones. The last two have really separated the wheat from the chaff. The 3D layer was really throwing a curve.
The answer is Marvao, Portugal, a place I can say with all honesty I have never heard of before this contest (note to self, when in Portugal, visit Marvao.)
The castle in Marvao was built in the 13th century, and is an excellently preserved example of the period.
